We booked the Intake Visit after my father passed and nobody in the family knew where anything was. Nadia arrived on time, worked methodically through six boxes and three drawers, and handed us a written list the next morning. It was not the most comfortable process — there is something confronting about seeing how little order there is — but the inventory made everything that followed much more manageable. We have since done the Archive Engagement as well.

Went through the Records Structure Programme with Azman over seven weeks. I appreciated the session-by-session structure — we finished employment records properly before moving to insurance, which meant each area felt resolved rather than partially addressed. The naming convention we settled on is something I have continued using on my own. The open-questions register surfaced three things I then took to a solicitor, which would probably have remained vague worries otherwise.

My mother had accumulated 40 years of household papers across two properties. The bureau handled the full Archive Engagement — they scanned everything, rebuilt the physical folders in a way that makes immediate sense to any family member, and wrote an orientation document that my brother in KL was able to follow without calling me. Three walkthrough sessions were more than we expected; they did not rush through them. I have recommended the bureau to two other families since.

Booked the Intake Visit without any particular intention to proceed further. The inventory was thorough and the gap list showed three categories of document we simply did not have copies of — insurance schedules from the early 2000s, one title document that turned out to be in a sibling's possession, and some employment records from a previous employer. Worth it for the clarity alone.

We did the Records Programme remotely — video call each week, with me doing the physical sorting alongside. It worked better than I expected. The template pack gave enough structure that sessions were productive. The coordinator was clear about what fell outside the scope of the engagement and what should go to a solicitor or financial planner, which I found reassuring rather than frustrating.

We had five boxes of documents from a late relative's estate that none of us wanted to open. The Intake Visit was the right first step — it gave us a list without requiring us to make any decisions during the session. Nadia did not push us toward a larger engagement; she described what it would involve and left us to decide. We came back a month later and booked the Archive Engagement. The orientation document is something I will actually use.

A retired couple in Ipoh — Bureau Archive Engagement
12 weeks · 14 sessions · RM 4,600
The situation
The household had accumulated documents across four decades of employment, two properties, three insurance providers and one business venture. Records were in five physical boxes, two email accounts and one external hard drive with unlabelled folders. Neither family member felt able to start without help.
What was done
Full inventory across all containers and the hard drive. Active records separated from archive. Scanning and indexing onto a new external drive under a consistent naming convention. Physical set rebuilt and labelled. Orientation document written for the couple's adult children. Three walkthrough sessions included.
The result
Fourteen categories of document indexed, 340 physical items filed under clear labels. Six items entered in the open-questions register for professional follow-up. The adult children in KL were able to navigate the digital archive without a walkthrough during the third session. One EPF matter identified during indexing was taken to a licensed financial planner.
"We had delayed this for years because it felt overwhelming. Having someone else lead the process — at a pace we could manage — made the difference."
A family managing a relative's estate — Intake Visit followed by Archive Engagement
2 weeks apart · Total: Intake Visit + 12-week engagement
The situation
A family of four adult siblings needed to understand what records a deceased relative had held before approaching a solicitor on estate matters. Nobody wanted to take responsibility for opening the boxes without first understanding what was inside.
What was done
Intake Visit produced a written inventory within 48 hours. The family used the inventory to brief a solicitor before booking the Archive Engagement. During the archive engagement, the bureau indexed all records and flagged four documents relevant to the estate process in the open-questions register.
The result
The solicitor received a clear inventory from the family rather than a vague description of what might exist. The archive engagement reduced the administrative burden on the family by taking the sorting, scanning and labelling work off their hands entirely. The open-questions register accelerated the solicitor's process.
"The solicitor said having the inventory at the first meeting was unusual. It made the engagement more efficient and probably shorter."
